Marco Mezquida: Beethoven Collage

Beethoven Collage is Marco Mezquida’s tribute to the famous German composer on the 250th anniversary of his birth. The pianist from Mallorca delves into the musical universe of the genius Ludwig van Beethoven, reinterpreting his works with impressive creativeness.

A labour born from his deep love of the original work developed from the angle of a 21st century improviser and composer. The result combines might, subtlety, beauty and humour. Beethoven’s music organically and suggestively joins free improvisation, popular beats, jazz, Latin music and flamenco. And all with the rigour constantly applied to this kind of projects by Mezquida, as he demonstrated two years ago with Ravel’s Dreams, his reinterpretation of the work of the great French composer Maurice Ravel.
