Bamba Wassoulou Groove and Joss Stone brought the house down as they closed this year’s Jazzaldia in the Trinitate Plaza, with the contagious joy of the group from Mali and the powerful voice of the British artist as she rendered soul rhythms with her sentimental, sometimes heartrending, yet delicate and enormously intimate style.

Pianists from Japan have played the lead part in the San Telmo Museum cloister during this edition of the Jazzaldia, which ended with the concert given by the virtuoso Hakuei Kim.

The percussionist Bandolero brought flamenco airs to the Victoria Eugenia Theatre, followed by Gonzalo del Val and his drums.

Rocio Márquez & Bronquio presented their combination of urban music and electronics with flamenco and singing in the Kursaal Auditorioa.

For the fifth day in a row, free concerts were performed throughout the afternoon and evening on the Frigo Gunea, Fnac Gunea and Garbera stages with groups including Mikel Legasa's Quintet, Pacific Jazz Ambassadors, Xavi Maldonado & David Cid Quartet, Kinkfolk, Bengue and Olana Liss.

The band from Oñati, Ramada Inn, and the Nauticool stage provided the perfect combination for an unforgettable sundowner to end the festival.

Music stamped with the Eusko Label was the star of last night with Nakar at the Nauticool, Bamms at the Frigo Gunea, Amaika Rude at the Fnac Gunea and Zetak on the Keler Gunea stage where Pello Reparaz and his group had the Zurriola beach jumping with his energy and hits like 'Zeinen ederra izango den'. The group Ezra Collective took to the stage before Zetak, who performed the last of the beach concerts.

In the Kursaal, Pat Metheny, armed with his guitar and his charm, presented his Side-Eye NYC project spotlighting a variety of gifted rising musicians.

At yesterday’s first concert in the Trinitate Plaza, the six decades of professional career boasted by the Italian trumpet player and composer Enrico Rava were recognised with presentation of the Donostiako Jazzaldia Award. The artist was accompanied by four brilliant up-and-coming Italian artists: The Fearless Five. Next up, David Helbock's Austrian Syndicate, with its 5 excellent musicians, filled the night with keyboards, synthesizers, rhythm and percussion.

The young sax players of Alto For Two and Niño Josele with his guitar participated in yesterday’s JazzEñe.

Kento Tsubosaka had the San Telmo Museum cloister vibrating with his piano.

The concerts by Pacific Jazz Ambassadors and Conversessions packed out the Kursaal terrace.

The delightful combination of the balafons of the Hié sisters and the marimba of Vassilena Serafimova cranked up the atmosphere at the Fnac Gunea with their group Bengue.

The Brian Aching Quartet took to the Fnac Forum stage.

Bringing a somewhat unusual concert format, the Victoria Eugenia Theatre’s Club Room hosted Freedom First, a project from the “Justice for Keith LaMar” campaign, aiming to raise awareness on the death sentence and halt the execution of LaMar, a prisoner condemned to death in 1993 in the United States. The concert was fronted by Albert Marquès, accompanied on stage by another three musicians. All were joined, from the distance, by the voice of Keith LaMar, who was present by means of recordings of his voice and a live performance from prison, over the telephone.

Yesterday the Jazzaldia stages offered heaps of energy, passion and music, delighting the audiences at concerts such as those given on the Keler Gunea stage by Arde Bogotá and Tiken Jah Fakoly.

The Piano Solo cycle in the Skoda San Telmo Museoa cloister welcomed the concert by Eri Yamamoto, the Japanese pianist and only woman to perform in this year’s cycle.

One of the concerts to sell out in only days at this 58th edition of the Jazzaldia was that of North American Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals who delighted yesterday’s audience at the Kursaal with the velvety and hypnotic sound of his voice accompanied by his expressive and marvellous guitar.

For TxikiJazz, Five Stars gave a performance at Chillida Leku and Michele Hendricks & Ronald Baker Project in Garbera.

The Mississippians and Sara Dowling doubled-up for yesterday’s concerts on the Frigo Gunea stage, followed by the Arnaud Labastie Trio.

Les Cuisinieres and Lufti Jakfar's Sixth Trio performed at the Fnac Gunea and Jerry Bergonzi Quartet in Garbera.

Yesterday’s especially charming evening on the Nauticool stage was accompanied by the jazztronic sounds of the Blue Lab Beats with their sophisticated and flexible fusion of Jazz, hip-hop, afrobeat, soul and electronic music.

Relishing an excellent meal while listening to Eri Yamamoto on the piano was a unique opportunity enjoyed by those present in the Maria Cristina Hotel.

The Trinitate Plaza witnessed from the introspective and lyrical jazz of Abdullah Ibrahim, presented with the Donostiako Jazzaldia Award for being the living history of Jazz, to the youngest and most contemporary symbol of the genre in the shape of London sax player and composer, Nubya Garcia.
