Kutxa Fundazioa Kluba (Tabakalera)

Mar Andino (tenor sax), Jana Gallifa (piano), Ot Granados (double bass/bass), Guillermo Elizaga (drums)

The quartet led by Mar and Guillermo emerged out of the vibrant musical scene of Barcelona, following a re-encounter between these two musicians, who had met years earlier at Musikene, the prestigious Higher School of Music of the Basque Country.

This project combines the cultural richness of two of the cities most representative of Jazz in Spain: San Sebastian and Barcelona. Mar and Guillermo, together with the highly talented Ot Granados and Jana Gallifa, explore new musical perspectives that serve to renew what had already been learnt in San Sebastian, bringing greater richness to it thanks to the liveliness and diversity of the Catalan scene. The affinity among all the members of the group is very clear, in terms of musical focus as well as the level of complicity when they perform together.

Inspired in New York music today, with references like Joel Ross and Immanuel Wilkins, the quartet offers something contemporary that doesn’t ignore the roots of traditional Jazz. Their repertoire includes original works and innovative arrangements of popular American songs, merging modernity and tradition to create a balance that is unique.
