Geraldine Ramírez (vocals), Ricardo Urrutia (guitar), Aitor Bravo (percussion)
These musicians are passionate lovers of Bossa Nova, harmonies, melodies and the rich and astonishing rhythms of this style of music. The minimalist sound of voice, guitar and percussion creates an atmosphere that takes us on a journey between the joy of living and melancholy. The sweet voice of Geraldine merges with the guitar of Ricardo Urrutia like they were one single instrument and Aitor Bravo joins in with his Brazilian rhythms.
Urdina (2023) is a record with songs in Basque, English and Portuguese, and is an open invitation to re-interpret Jazz standards and Bossa Nova from a totally new and updated perspective. Fusion that has attained an innovative style inspired in composers of a past that’s been brought smack-bang to the present.
Geraldine studied at Musikene, the Higher School of Music of the Basque Country. The Vitorian singer has performed at major festivals and theatres and participated in several musical projects, among them: Geraldine and Bilbao Sinfonietta, with a symphonic Jazz orchestra comprising some 30 musicians, under the direction of Iker Sánchez Silva; Hó Bá Lá Lá y Urdina, with Ricardo Urrutia, Aitor Bravo and Ekin; and Recordando a Édith Piaf, with Eduardo Moreno, Javier López Jaso and Marcelo Escrich. She has also worked with artists such Miguel Blanco, José Agustín Guereñu, Iosu Izaguirre, José Negroni, Nomar Negroni, La Pulga, Iñigo Ruiz de Gordejuela, Joserra Senperena, Koldo Uriarte and Patxi Zubizarreta.
