Claire Martin is one of the most interesting Jazz singers on the European scene today. She has been acclaimed by critics, internationally, on different occasions and has shown her talent on stages across all five continents.
In addition to her career as a Jazz vocalist, which has run parallel to the respect and prestige she has earned as a BBC host, Claire Martin has collaborated in diverse projects, offering her voice to ensembles such as the RTE Orchestra, The Royal Northern Sinfonia, The BBC Big Band and The BBC Concert Orchestra.
Her collaborations, in the studio and on stage, with legendary pianist Kenny Barron or with other Jazz greats like Bill Charlap and Django Bates, as well the fact that The Times considers her the best British Jazz Singer, only attest to a way of doing things that leaves no doubt with regard to the greatness of this artist.
Claire Martin’s style taps into classic Jazz, but delves further, without inhibition, into modernity with lots of nuances. One of the voices of reference in Jazz in the old continent and without doubt the great lady of British Jazz.
