Sílvia Pérez Cruz est une artiste unique. Depuis la sortie de son premier album solo, 11 De Novembre (2012), elle n’a cessé de récolter éloges et succès ; cette artiste est en constante évolution, toujours sur des chemins inexplorés, avec une capacité étonnante à aborder différents styles tout en conservant sa signature inimitable : une gamme vocale prodigieuse et un charisme scénique inné. C’est sans doute l’une des voix les plus subjuguantes de ces dernières années..
Ayant grandi en écoutant des chansons ibériques et latino-américaines, la chanteuse a commencé son apprentissage musical à l’âge de quatre ans et a suivi une formation en musique classique et en Jazz. Elle a étudié le solfège, le saxophone, le piano, le cajón, l’harmonie, le chant Jazz et flamenco, l’improvisation, l’arrangement, la composition… et a obtenu le diplôme de chant Jazz à l’ESMUC.
Tout au long de sa carrière, elle a collaboré avec des artistes tels que Eliseo Parra, Lluís Llach, Gino Paoli, Stefano Bollani, Rocio Molina, Marco Mezquida, Jorge Drexler, Hamilton de Holanda, Toquinho, Joan Manuel Serrat, Javier Colina, Raül Refree…
Lors de ce concert, qui sera son sixième au Jazzaldia, l’artiste catalane présentera son dernier travail : Toda la vida, un día (2023). Pendant le confinement, Pérez Cruz a ressenti le besoin de recréer toute sa vie en un seul album et c’est ainsi qu’a commencé ce qui est devenu une œuvre enregistrée pendant un an à Barcelone, Pontós, Madrid, Jerez, Buenos Aires, Coatepec et La Havane.
Une œuvre monumentale en 5 mouvements (un pour chaque étape de la vie), 21 chansons et 90 musiciens parmi lesquels, pour n’en citer que quelques-uns, Juan Quintero, Natalia Lafourcade, Liliana Herrero, Carmen Linares, Pepe Habichuela, Salvador Sobral…
Tout est grand dans cet album et tout se réduit, en même temps, à ce cercle qu’est la vie du point de vue de Pérez Cruz. « Chacun des cinq mouvements représente une étape : l’enfance, la jeunesse, la maturité, la vieillesse et la renaissance, parce que je veux que ce soit circulaire, c’est pourquoi la pochette est un cercle et c’est pourquoi j’ai voulu terminer par une berceuse », explique la chanteuse et compositrice catalane.

The singer, who grew up listening to Spanish and Latin American songs, started learning music at the age of 4, following an education in classical music and Jazz. She studied music language, the saxophone, piano, cajon, harmony, Jazz and flamenco performance, improvisation, arrangement, composition… going on to graduate in Jazz singing at the ESMUC. For this concert, her sixth performance at the Jazzaldia, the Catalan artist will present her latest album: Toda la vida, un día (2023). During lockdown, Pérez Cruz felt the need to recreate her whole life in a single album, embarking on what would become a year-long work recorded in Barcelona, Pontós, Madrid, Jerez, Buenos Aires, Coatepec and Havana. Everything is big on the album, yet it all comes down to that circle of life seen through the eyes of Pérez Cruz. “Each of the five movements represents a stage: childhood, youth, maturity, old age and rebirth, because I want it to be circular; that’s why the cover is a circle and also why I liked the idea of ending with a lullaby”, explains the Catalan Singer and composer.
