Chillida Leku 900x500

In the late 90s, sculptor Eduardo Chillida installed a magnificent work entitled “The Music Gate”, reminiscent of the Torii gates used in the Shinto world as an element of transition from the mundane to the sacred. This sculpture fell in line with Santiago Cathedral in paying tribute to the Obradoiro and honouring its Apostle. Today the work sits on the grass of Chillida Leku, constituting a mystical gateway that makes peculiar metallic sounds when the wind blows through it while reflecting the musical dualism between sound and silence and the relationship between matter and space into which the sculptor from San Sebastián so deeply delved.

Programme

1st part, 11:00-11:45: Following a brief introduction taking place around the enormous tree standing in Chillida Leku, you will make small models of musical sculptures.
