Txikijazz This will be the tenth edition of Txikijazz, a season of concerts and activities aimed at families. To celebrate this, Txikijazz is growing, in terms of outlook, concerts and stages. Txikijazz will programme 9 concerts at 4 different venues: Kutxa Kultur Tabakalera, Chillida Leku, Centro Comercial Garbera and Fnac Gunea. In addition to the concerts at all these venues, there will be activities and workshops for boys and girls who attend. The poster for this 10th edition of Txikijazz, which will run from July 21 to 25, was created by Ane Pikaza, who also created the poster for the 57th San Sebastian Jazz Festival. NFT The 57th San Sebastian Jazz Festival will publish, from today at 11.30, a limited NFT edition (57 copies) of this year’s festival poster, designed by Ane Pikaza and entitled Jazzaldiaren Besarkada. The copies will be available, free of charge, via our website, where you can submit your request (one copy only per person until all 57 copies have gone). The website will also explain the NFT format, how it works, and how to submit a request. This initiative represents our first step, in collaboration with Bakarts, with this technology, enabling us to offer a service to anyone wishing to acquire and collect this type of artistic creations, generated by Jazzaldia in digital format and delivered with authentication. Streaming In order to allow all those Jazz lovers who can’t go to the concerts to fully enjoy them, The San Sebastian Jazz Festival will stream, free of charge, the concerts given by 14 artists. 5 of the concerts held at Trinitate Plaza and the 9 concerts taking place at FCC Victoria Eugenia Antzokia (including all those in the JazzEñe section). Access to the streaming feed will be available through our website and YouTube channel. Jazzinema In addition, the sixth edition of Jazzinema, organised by The Basque Film Archive (Filmoteca Vasca) will run parallel to The San Sebastian Jazz Festival. This year Jazzinema will grow, both in the number of screenings and in the number of venues, thus facilitating access to enjoy the extraordinary relationship between cinema and Jazz. Sponsors The San Sebastian Jazz Festival will continue to have the support of Frigo, Kutxabank, Škoda, FCC, Kutxa Fundazioa, El Diario Vasco, Fundación SGAE, Katapulta Tour... And, as a novelty this year, the Zurriola Beach stage shall bear the name of our main sponsor, Keler, and will be called Keler Gunea. One of the stages at the Kursaal will bear the name of Fnac, and Fnac will also host some of the concerts at its San Sebastian outlet, at the Fnac Forum. Finally, Garbera, which will, for the first time this year, host some of the events programmed within the 57th San Sebastian Jazz Festival, will have two stages where 10 free concerts will take place. International collaboration The San Sebastian Jazz Festival collaborates with international institutions, with a view to broadening and diversifying the musical activity programmed. This year, we shall collaborate with Fundación Japón and Kanasawa Jazz Street; with Lazio Sound; and with OARA and Le Rocher de Palmer. 57 free copies of the poster by Ane Pikaza as an NFT

The 57th San Sebastian Jazz Festival will mint and publish a limited NFT edition (57 copies) of this year’s festival poster, designed by Ane Pikaza and entitled Jazzaldiaren Besarkada. The copies will be available, free of charge, from 22 June at 11:30 via our website, where you can submit your request (one copy only per person until all 57 copies have gone). The website will also explain the NFT format, how it works, and how to submit a request. This initiative represents our first step with this technology enabling us to offer a service to anyone wishing to acquire and collect this type of artistic creations, generated by Jazzaldia in digital format and delivered with authentication. Information on the steps to be followed to request an NFT is now available on our website. Applicants can obtain a single copy per person at a cost of €0 until all 57 copies have gone. To create this process and set it in motion we have collaborated with the company Bakarts. For the process of creating these NFTs we have worked with the Polygon blockchain. Thanks to its technology, this network offers extremely low energy consumption in its NFT transactions and creation processes. The energy needed to generate an NFT with this platform is the equivalent of a credit card transaction. Two concerts a day, from 21-25 July, in Garbera: Monophonics, Ural Thomas & The Pain, Bruce Bath Trio, Lucia Fumero, Arima Soul, Broken Brothers Brass Band, Sara Mansilla, Carla Sevilla 5tet, Swingtronics, Les Fous

The 57th San Sebastian Jazz Festival adds 10 free concerts to its programme, to run on one indoor and one outdoor stage at the Garbera Shopping Centre. The concerts will start every day at 12:30 with a ‘Txikijazz’ concert for the whole family. The other daily performances will take place in the evening, at 20:00, with concerts by 5 groups who join the programme of the 57th San Sebastian Jazz Festival. Amongst these interesting open air concerts are those of Ural Thomas & The Pain, on 22 July, and the Monophonics, on 23 July. Monophonics is one of the best live soul bands to come out of the United States, with a timeless sound combining soul, funk and psychedelic rock. Ural Thomas is the last of the soul-era greats still to be found on stage, a legend who will transport you to the golden era of this genre and who has performed with big-name artists including James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding and Etta James. Garbera, a centre currently undergoing transformation and evolution, aims to continue working to become more integrated to the community and to form an active part of the events taking place in the city. In the words of its Manager, Nuria Vegas: “Our centre is focussed on hosting more cultural activities, but we want to do it by participating in the things that already exist in the city, because we believe that we can hold many events here, fantastically organised with prestigious professionals, like in the case of Jazzaldia”. ŠKODA SAN TELMO MUSEOA FILLS WITH PIANO HOTSHOTS Yet another year you will be able to enjoy the solo piano concerts in San Telmo Museum’s marvellous cloister. There will be 5 concerts, all rigorously acoustic, brought to you by 4 absolute geniuses on the keyboard, all pianists and musicians extraordinaire. The programme will kick off on 21 July with a benefit concert whose proceeds will go to the Chernobil Elkartea and at which Vadim Neselovskyi will delight the audience with his Odessa Suite. On Friday 22 July it will be the turn of the North American, Craig Taborn. This exceptional pianist is a gifted improviser whose texture-filled music skilfully conveys a unique imagery. For Saturday 23 July you will have the chance to see and hear the virtuoso pianist, composer and producer Sofiane Pamart. Destined to become one of the best known pianists and composers in the coming years, Pamart has the mission to revolutionise the world of classical music and the piano and to make it more accessible, and she does it by breaking all the codes and turning to those of today’s urban world. On 24 and 25 July the star of the Museum cloister will be the New Yorker Benny Green. An indefatigable scholar of all piano styles, Green has been playing on stages for more than four decades and is currently one of the best Jazz pianists. The incomparable musician will perform two different repertoires:

-24 July - THE CONNECTION: Duke Ellington - Billy Strayhorn - Thelonious Monk.

-25 July - REMINISCING THE PIANO GREATS: Hank Jones - Tommy Flanagan - Cedar Walton - Oscar Peterson.

FCC VICTORIA EUGENIA ANTZOKIA WILL HOST THE EIGHTH EDITION OF JAZZEÑE AND A GEM Following its last year’s success, the JazzEñe festival, a show of Spanish Jazz for international programmers organised by the SGAE Foundation, will run yet again this year at the Jazzaldia, in the Victoria Eugenia Theatre. A unique way to approach the music of different artists associated to the SGAE. From 21 to 24 July, starting at 12:30, you can enjoy 4 shows, each featuring two 45-minute concerts. On 21 July Oreka TX will take the floor, followed by Chico Pérez. On the 22nd, it will be the turn of Verónica Ferreiro & Javier Sánchez, followed by Carlos Sarduy. On the 23rd, Moisés Sánchez and the Daahoud Salim Quintet will perform. And finally, on 24 July, Berta Moreno and Ernán López Nussa will bring JazzEñe 2022 to a close. On 25 July, no longer as part of JazzEñe, but at the same time (12:30), the FCC Victoria Eugenia Antzokia programme will close with two fabulous musicians sharing the stage: Marco Mezquida, on the piano, and Juan de la Rubia, on the organ. The two will perform Bach & Forward, a completely improvised performance around the work of Johann Sebastian Bach. The two performers, specialists in improvisation, respond to and challenge one another, each from their respective personal approaches, tending towards Jazz in the case of the former and more classical in that of the latter. A unique and unrepeatable experience. SINGLE AND SEASON TICKETS AND UPCOMING ANNOUNCEMENTS Single and season tickets for the ŠKODA San Telmo Museoa and FCC Victoria Eugenia Antzokia are now on sale through our usual channels (the Jazzaldia and Donostia Kultura websites).
