Federica Michisanti triumphed at Top Jazz, where she was named best new Italian talent and received the SIAE special award for originality in compositional research. This led her to spend two years at the forefront of a wind trio, to which an exceptional guest, Louis Sclavis, musician extraordinaire and composer of the highest order, was added for the Una Striscia di Terra Feconda French-Italian Festival.

Thus the Federica Michisanti Quartet was born, with the Italian double bassist Federica Michisanti playing alongside the French clarinettist Louis Sclavis, accompanied by another two outstanding musicians figuring among the finest in Europe’s contemporary Jazz scene: French cellist Vincent Courtois and Italy’s Michele Rabbia on the drums.

The quartet plays Michisanti’s compositions with their sound drawing on European classical music and avant-garde Jazz, leaving space for spontaneous improvisation and interludes by the drums.
