Luther Dickinson (guitar, vocals), Cody Dickinson (drums, vocals), Carwyn Ellis (bass)

Sons of the legendary producer and musician Jim Dickinson, Luther and Cody grew up in north Mississippi, surrounded by music. Not only the kind participated in by their father, who worked with big stars including Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, Ry Cooder, The Flamin’ Groovies and Willy DeVille, but also watching and listening to the local hill country blues performers: Mississippi Fred McDowell, R.L. Burnside, Otha Turner…

In 1996, siblings Luther and Cody Dickson formed the North Mississippi Allstars. Luther on the vocals and playing the guitar, cigar box, bass, drums and mandolin, while Cody also sings and plays the drums, guitar, percussion and keyboard.
Their debut LP, Shake Hands With Shorty (2000), was nominated for the Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album, a nomination they have since received another three times. They have released 13 albums, having gradually changed the band formation and brought in new collaborators. Over the years, the Dickson brothers have worked with artists including Mavis Staples, John Hiatt, Charlie Musselwhite, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Black Crowes, Otha Turner…

In their latest album, Set Sail (2022), they add the voice of Lamar William Jr, son of the bass player with the Allman Brothers, and Jesse Williams on bass. The result is the coming together of four artists who understand each other to perfection, all second or third generation musicians from families where music is lived and passed down from generation to generation as part of everyday life.

The music of the North Mississipi Allstars is a benchmark of North American roots music, with close ties to the blues and the enormous influence of styles including soul, southern rock, folk, psychedelic rock, Jazz…
