Algunas de sus composiciones (Stablemates, I Remember Clifford, Blues March o Whisper Not, por citar algunas) forman parte del patrimonio jazzístico y son prácticamente obligatorias para los estudiantes de jazz. Además, compuso música para series de televisión, como Mash o The Bill Cosby Show. A sus 86 años, Golson mantiene vivo el sonido elegante que le situó entre los músicos más influyentes y continúa asentando su lugar prominente en la historia del jazz. El cuarteto de Benny Golson tocará en el Heineken Jazzaldia de este año el 24 de julio, a las 18:30, en el Auditorio Kursaal.
