Two concerts a day, from 21-25 July, in Garbera: Monophonics, Ural Thomas & The Pain, Bruce Bath Trio, Lucia Fumero, Arima Soul, Broken Brothers Brass Band, Sara Mansilla, Carla Sevilla 5tet, Swingtronics, Les Fous
The 57th San Sebastian Jazz Festival adds 10 free concerts to its programme, to run on one indoor and one outdoor stage at the Garbera Shopping Centre. The concerts will start every day at 12:30 with a ‘Txikijazz’ concert for the whole family. The other daily performances will take place in the evening, at 20:00, with concerts by 5 groups who join the programme of the 57th San Sebastian Jazz Festival.
Amongst these interesting open air concerts are those of Ural Thomas & The Pain, on 22 July, and the Monophonics, on 23 July. Monophonics is one of the best live soul bands to come out of the United States, with a timeless sound combining soul, funk and psychedelic rock. Ural Thomas is the last of the soul-era greats still to be found on stage, a legend who will transport you to the golden era of this genre and who has performed with big-name artists including James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding and Etta James.
Garbera, a centre currently undergoing transformation and evolution, aims to continue working to become more integrated to the community and to form an active part of the events taking place in the city.
In the words of its Manager, Nuria Vegas: “Our centre is focussed on hosting more cultural activities, but we want to do it by participating in the things that already exist in the city, because we believe that we can hold many events here, fantastically organised with prestigious professionals, like in the case of Jazzaldia”.
